The holidays are a perfect time to get your community’s attention. Sure, you have probably sent out your holiday cards, emails, calendars and other promotional content. Though, this is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and keep the attention of your clients and potential new ones by posting thought-provoking content during December.
1. Blog about charitable efforts
If there's a charitable event or specific charity that you participate in and care about deeply - blog about it! Chances are, you'll have the opportunity to connect with others who are also passionate about the cause. In turn, this could bring in some new business to your agency. Take a look at local holiday events such as school charities, food drives, or volunteer opportunities. The respect you can earn when people see that you are making an effort outside of the office goes a long way!
2. Blog about fire safety and hazards
It's no secret that accidents happen during the holiday season. According to the National Fire Protection Association, there is an increase in fires and injuries, and “between 2015-2019, US fire departments responded to an average 160 home fires that started with Christmas trees per year.” Many of these accidents happen due to more time spent cooking in the kitchen and some of them happen due to Christmas decorations. Although many people are aware of this, there is only a benefit to posting and reminding them to be aware.
3. Blog about your star employees
Letting your clients get an inside look at who your staff is will only make them feel like they aren’t communicating with “robots” all day. Write a blog post or two on employees who you feel have stood out in December, despite the busy holiday season. Let people know who they are and what they do! Make it a little more meaningful by asking them a question about their personal life, like what their favorite part about the holiday season is or any holiday traditions they have.
4. Blog about a holiday decorating contest
This is a fun way to host an event for your clients! It is also a great way to promote a discount or a giveaway. Have your clients send in photos of their holiday decorations, and you can post the top contenders on your website! Ultimately, there will be one winner but it's a great way to get your clients involved.
Overall, this is your time to get creative and think outside the box. Instead of letting your agency be an afterthought during the holiday season, continue to stay relevant! Oh, and just remember to have a very merry holiday season.
